Google does something useful yet again

If you go to http://www.google.com/ig you can personalize the page to show things like headlines, weather, Gmail messages etc. Today they added more functionality to the page letting you put ANY RSS feed in as well as some more predefined ones of their own. So now you can have what ever you want, even when you don't want it. With no ads to get in the way, it's just as information is supposed to be er.... full of information, not endless flash animated ads showing men in ties doing incomprehenisble things with a 150,000 strong work force 'at the touch of a button' with IBM, or something like that.

Google, keep on doing stuff like this.

Virtual Street Reality

These are 2d images that are drawn on the street by an artist, which when viewed at the right angle take on a 3d view. Great stuff!

Batman Begins & War of the Worlds

Saw Batman Begins the other day, and War of the Worlds today. Both great movies. Of the two I would say Batman Begins is the better movie, as it gives you more to run through your brain than War of the Worlds.

Michael Keaton was my batman since he squeaked into the latex the first time, but now Christian Bale is THE caped crudsader in Batman Begins. Amazing job all round, and a case of M&M's to all concerned. The movie didn't even need the usual over the top effects, it was THAT good. Great acting, and lots of it. Go see it now, and then go see it again. I don't think I am spoiling it by saying that Batman is a Ninja, oh my goodness, how kewl is that!?!??!

War of the Worlds reminded me of long past evenings spent cringing in horror at the Daleks in Dr.Who. This movie didn't mess about, it got on with things early, and did not let up for a moment. If you are like me, and like stuff that blows up, then you will definately like this. It seemed like five disaster movies all packed into one. It flew by, as did most of the body parts, and houses, and cars, and boats, and puppies, and horses, and blood, and just about everything else you can imagine. These aliens were not very pleasant visitors to our stinky planet. Go see it, but make sure you strap yourself in for the ride, it is great. Definately a 'see it at a theatre' movie, unless you have the screen and sound equipment to be able to do this masterpiece justice, you will just have to put up the cash for the tickets.

These movies really were great fun. Groovy in the extreme.

Both good romps, but in my opinion, only Batman Begins is worth more than one viewing.

More Trek

With the recent departure of Scotty, I thought I should post these images from There, and Second Life, to show you that he will not be forgotten..... or it could be an excuse just to nerd out.

And yes there ARE all the Trek noises in Second Life.

Slingbox

The Slingbox is a device which sits between your video entertainment, and your television, and then sends it out over the internet for you to watch anywhere you like, on your PC.

You can also remotely control your Tivo with it, if you want. So now your TV can FINALLY come with you like they promised with cell phones, and sci-fi movies.

Yes it streams it over the web, and you need an existing home network to insert this bad boy into. I will keep an eye out now for the first Linux based rip-offs, hopefully saving myself $250 in the process.

Slingbox me now!

Scotty Dies

James Doohan died at 5:30 a.m. He was 85.
The character will never leave us, even if his creator has in fact been beamed up.

CNN says it better than me.

Cheerio
