Multiple monitors

Well a little while back I told you of the KVM switch, which allows me to switch between two computers, but use the same keyboard and mouse (and even speakers). Today I did a quick thing of putting two monitors on the same PC. Seeing the same image on two monitors is not so strange. After all, most people who have not spent their lives on Mars, have been to an electronics store and seen bank upon bank of television sets, all showing the same image.

No I was after the thing you always see on television interviews with people in offices, mostly scientists, or computer using folk. Making your desktop go across two screens. It is odd, seeing the wallpaper the same on both, but being able to take your mouse across to the other screen, where you can park any window you want to. Even maximize it, and use everything just as you would the original. Wow, what a vacation for that little pointer.

Here is how to do it, if you want. And no you cannot have a taskbar all the way along both. You just see the wallpaper the same on both and then you can drag things across, even expand a window across two of them.

Oh and the reason for doing this was simply because I had always wanted to. Just one of those weird things you want to try and I just had the chance. Getting a lot of that lately.
